How to take a long screenshot on Mac
Mac can’t take a scrolling screenshot either. Record the scroll with Shift-Command-5, drop the video here, and get one tall image — stitched in your browser, never uploaded.

Long screenshot on Mac, in any app

Start a screen recording
Press Shift-Command-5 and choose Record Selected Portion. Drag the frame over the window content you want to capture, then click Record.

Scroll slowly
Scroll from the top of what you want to the bottom with steady, slow swipes. Keep the pointer at the edge of the recorded area.

Stop and upload
Click the stop button in the menu bar (or press Control-Command-Esc). Drop the recording from your Desktop into the tool on this page and download the long screenshot.
Recording only the part of the screen that scrolls keeps the file small and the stitching clean. The window’s toolbar and any fixed footer are detected and kept once, and moments where you stopped scrolling are skipped.

How do I take a long screenshot on Mac?
macOS has no scrolling screenshot button. Record the scroll instead: press Shift-Command-5, choose Record Selected Portion, scroll slowly, stop, and drop the video into the tool on this page. It stitches the frames into one long screenshot. For a web page you can also use Safari’s File › Export as PDF.
Can I take a scrolling screenshot of a web page on Mac?
Yes. In Safari, choose File › Export as PDF to save the whole page as a PDF. In Firefox, right-click the page, choose Take Screenshot and then Save full page. In Chrome, open Developer Tools (Option-Command-I), press Shift-Command-P, type “screenshot” and choose Capture full size screenshot to get a PNG.
How do I take a long screenshot of an app on Mac?
Apps like Messages, Mail, Slack or Notes don’t export a full page. Record the scroll with Shift-Command-5 and upload the video here — it works with any app because it only needs the recording.
Where does the Mac screen recording go?
By default a .mov file is saved to your Desktop. You can change the location in the Shift-Command-5 toolbar under Options › Save to.
Why does my stitched screenshot show the mouse pointer?
The pointer is recorded like everything else. Park it at the edge of the recorded area, or outside it, before you start scrolling, and scroll with the trackpad or the arrow keys.
Is the recording uploaded?
No. The video is read by your own browser on your Mac and never leaves it. The page’s security policy blocks it from sending data anywhere. See privacy.
